LSC-200 Register Motorization Kit for Goss Urbanite Units
Systems Description
The LSC-200 and LSC-230 systems have been designed to allow the press operator to control the unit’s registration mechanisms from one or multiple color quality desks. This can be achieved with the addition of a motorized actuator on every registration mechanism. Depending on the selected options, the actuators can be individually driven by a rocker switch or by an automatic register control system.

- Reduces injury by eliminating the need to step up or climb to the second level of stacked units.

Details:
- Circumferential adjustment possible with demultiplication of control mechanism. 300° dial travel translates into 1/8 of an inch circumferential movement, making every degree very precise.
- A special wear plate reduces friction during movement and reduces axial play. (LSC-200 model)
- Quality industrial components used in every aspect of construction of these kits.
- Printing cylinder adjustment and positioning possible without modification to the existing plate cylinder sidelay cover.
- Strain free manual override standard on all kits.
- Each mechanism is protected with “end of travel” limit switches. An optional analog feedback is also available for an absolute cylinder position reading.
LSC-230 Register Motorization Kit for Goss Metro and Metroliner Units
This system can be added to an existing Metro or Metroliner unit. For a typical unit, two motor couples are required. Viewed from the operator side, the S10 (left side) and S13 (right side) assemblies are identical, they will motorize both the sidelay and circumferential on each side

LSC-310 Shaftless Infeed
System Overview
This system is composed of a dancer, a nip and a draw roller that work together to keep a constant tension in a paper web. A variable speed AC drive runs the draw roller according to the press speed and the dancer position to keep the web tension constant. The tension setpoint, operating mode as well as operation variable are entered using a 6” color touch screen interface.
Operating Principle
A dancer roller with constant pressure pneumatic cylinder maintains a precise tension in the web. A sensor detects the dancer position and trims the draw roller speed to maintain the dancer roller in a predefined working position. This action (dancer roller movement --> draw roller speed modification) ensures that the web tension is not affected by press speed modification (acceleration/deceleration) or splice cycle. This equipment can work either in manual or in automatic modes.
Tension control
Web tension is controlled by the air pressure applied to the dancer roller pneumatic cylinder. Commands on the operator screen allow increasing or decreasing this pressure.

LSC-3000 Motorization system for Sunday presses
The Issue with the M3000
The electrical system on the M3000 has often been found to be faulty.
- Main VME AT computer stops working
- Main console computer stops working
- Drive controllers are often in error
The exact cause of these issues is difficult to identify. The most pertinent explanation is ageing equipment. A greater issue lies in the fact that clients don’t have the tools to monitor, capture, and isolate the true cause of the problems with this press. These problems have the following consequences:
- Frequent machine stoppage
- Instability – Machine becomes unreliable
And since the cause of the problem isn’t clear, most companies develop an arbitrary set of procedures to resolve the issues when they arrive (cutting power, hitting the reset button, and so forth). This type of random troubleshooting quickly gets out of control, and since these actions are not documented, trying to resolve the issue often causes more problems and longer work stoppages.
Another important element of the issue resides in the fact that a large amount of the components for the M3000 are no longer available. Those that are available are very expensive and come with a long delivery period. Additionally, all the IT parts for this press have been discontinued.
Our Solution
The LSC-3000 kit works with two virtual masters (primary and secondary)
- Positioning setpoints are issued from the virtual masters, assuring smooth functioning.
- All the axes follow the virtual masters, therefore none are following a real master which would introduce a delay between the axes.
- The position of the virtual master can be reinitialized at any moment since it’s virtual. The unit takes the position of the folder at the beginning of the run so that it is no longer necessary to place the units or the folder on their marks to start.

- Network diagnostics are incorporated into the operator’s interface

- Preventative maintenance messages are incorporated into the operator’s interface

The LSC-3000 provides Additional Functionality
- Certain functions were planned by the manufacturer but were never implemented. These additional functions are available through the LSC-3000 kit.
- Primary/Secondary unit phasing for duplex
- Folder phasing (cutoff)
- Independent mode for all components, not just the units
- All functions of the IOS are available through the operator interface because the interface is installed in the console and not on the drive control panels.
- A variety of passwords can be implemented to allow access to different types or groups of users.
